Interview with J. Santiago

What are you working on next?
A sequel to Five-Star. Lesson learned by the way. I swore I would never write a sequel and yet, here I am, working to finish one.
Who are your favorite authors?
Nora Roberts
Judith McNaught
Karen Robards
Tammara Webber
Samantha Young
Zora Neale Hurston
Ernest Hemingway
How many can I list?
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My life. I have to say I am very blessed.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading and transporting my boys to soccer.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
"We Are the Best Kids Ever" in 5th grade. Definitely had a Sweet Valley High vibe. Guess I was destined for romance.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Easy by Tammara Webber
My first new adult romance and I loved it. Loved the vulnerability of the characters and the development of the story.

Carolina Moon by Nora Roberts
Great romantic suspense. The paranormal story line was different and loved the main characters chemistry.

Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy
First M/M romance. Loved the banter between the main characters and the natural progression of their relationship.

Masquerade by Brenda Joyce
Great regency romance!

Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught
I have read thousands of romance novels. Elizabeth Cameron and Ian Thornton are still my favorite couple.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Nook but ever since I downloaded the Kindle to my phone, I usually read on my iPhone. Easy access to books and I always have my phone with me...
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
People reading and relating to what I write.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Bookbub
And, the section that pops up with books I might like.
How do you approach cover design?
I've tried to do everything I can to stay away from fabulous male specimens decorating my books.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

I remember not liking the boy who took everything the tree had to give.
