Interview with Janice Foster

How do you approach cover design?
I chose a cover from the internet which in my opinion was really unique and fitted the story perfectly. I know some publishers might shy away from this cover but I love a cover that catches your eye!
What do you read for pleasure?
I don't. I spend my time writing movie scripts....
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes of course, The Magic Faraway Tree. I loved the fantasy aspect, my imagination ran wild after that little book.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My laptop. I like a nice big screen to read from...
Describe your desk
It's my dining room table - a nice country kitchen type wooden six seater table with a big vase of flowers. My cat "Smudge" usually sits watching me on the other end of the table. Believe me I have tried so many times to chase him off, it doesn't work.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
In Ireland, Belfast. Wow the Irish have such personalities and great imaginations.
When did you first start writing?
About five years ago, just after my mum passed away. She told me to try writing, that I'd love it, she was an avid reader of thrillers. She was right, I do love it....
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I grew tired of waiting and waiting for publishers to decided if my book was good enough to publish.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I've only just uploaded my book, so far the uploading process was so nice and easy and for authors like me in South Africa the payment side is easy. Hope we go far..Smashwords and me.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Oh I love being in my stories, being each character leaving the real world and all it's problems behind for a while. I hope the public and any fans I might have enjoy my writing as much as I love writing it.
What do your fans mean to you? far as I am concerned they are a part of my family no matter who they are or where they live in the world.
