Interview with Jaye C Blakemore

Describe your desk
My desk is always neat and tidy. I believe a clean work place helps keep harmony. directly above my desk I have corkboards and I collect things from everywhere I travel so I always have happy memories surrounding me.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small farming community, a place and time where children could still be children. We had some neighbors that lived close but not a lot, this allowed time for me to rely on my imagination. I found when I played alone I could be anyone and go anywhere, which I use in writing I can go anywhere and create characters of my choosing.
When did you first start writing?
I started my first novel 5 years ago. I was traveling a lot and found at night when I was in a hotel room I could entertain myself by writing stories. My first story turned into 97,000 words. I had never dreamed of sharing my writing until about a year ago and that's when the lights came on the stories were great reading.
What's the story behind your latest book?
the book I am just getting prepared to have released is about twin sisters separated at a young age due to their parents getting a divorce. The book is about twins sisters, romance, murder and revenge
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I am so positive the book is so intriguing and its a can't stop reading type of book, yet I did not want to go through the publishing house hurry it up and wait game. I have several books and figured I might as well just go for it.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is making it possible to have my book out to everyone electronically, in several languages on multiple downloadable versions and I won't have a large upfront fee to make a dream reality.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I become so involved when I am writing with the fine detail, I do not just create characters but they become so realistic to me and anyone that has read my stories. I walk away from a book once it is finished and have the feeling I have made some new friends along the way.
What do your fans mean to you?
The fans are the most important part of writing. The joy that fans bring into my life by reading my stories and when they get as excited as I do about the story, when someone takes the time to write and tells me they were sad to see the book end and they feel as though they know everyone personally, life does not get any better
What are you working on next?
I am currently in the final edits of yet another great mystery book but not quit ready to disclose to much to soon. I can say it is awesome. I have someone that does the edits for me and Judi said her breath was taken away
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have the most wonderful life. I live each day as if it may be the last. I truly believe everything in life is a learning experience good or bad. If I run into a negative situation I look for the positive side and try to turn it around as soon as possible. I don't want to stay in bed I do not want to miss anything.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have 2 poodles and they are the best thing on earth. We walk daily and play a lot. I have a real job during the day, that I absolutely love. I work with some great people for a wonderful company. I do my writing to entertain me at night when the whole world sleeps is when my pen comes to life. Everyday of my life I treat it as if I was going on a new adventure.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I love ebooks. I am an avid reader, knowing I can read anything any time I would like is such a bonus. I love not having to go to the store and look for a book. Electronically every book in print is at my finger tips.
