Interview with Jayme Frieze Hamilton

What is your e-reading device of choice?
paperback books- love the the feel of the pages, the smell of books, new and old- love to browse in the library; real, tangible, satisfying books!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The days are gifts, and the morning is the best part. The sunrise ... a cup of tea ... a hot shower ... and there are times when my dreams are so vivid that my inner writer just won't leave me alone. On those days, I get up at 3:00 am! ;)
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Living the characters! Thinking, breathing, watching the world through their eyes. They're so real they come right off the page and inhabit my space and live in my dreams. Sometimes they even run away with the plot and it seems I'm just along for the ride.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are my inspiration. They mean as much to me as the characters themselves. I'm thirsty for input- what can I change; how can I make it better? Please, please, please be brutally honest!
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Holy Bible; hands down, the greatest story ever told. I revel in new discoveries every time I read it.
To Kill a Mockingbird; for its accuracy in portraying a child's understanding of right and wrong.
Moon Over Manifest; for its unity, clarity, and a glorious unfolding of events.
A Long Way From Chicago; love the characters- love the granny trickster. Just a hilariously good time.
Granny Torelli Makes Soup; cherish the elderly for their wisdom and ability to generate understanding through story.
