Interview with Richard Greye

Published 2018-09-18.
What are your three favorite books, and why?
I enjoy books that delve into the human tragedy and how people can overcome them. Robert Kennedy's speech which said that "Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance" is best displayed in literature.
That is the spirit of so many great books. I appreciate the Book Thief by Markus Zusak, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, and the Things They Carried by Tim O'brien.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read sci-fi, fantasy, history, and mysteries for the most part. I do read selective muscle fiction short stories too.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I had a story to tell. Isn't that the story of every author?
What's the story behind your latest book?
I wrote this book as a well to tell the story that so many people are afraid to tell. Its now acceptable in society to drink, do drugs, and even to go into a porn shop, yet if you have a different taste in what makes a woman beautiful, you are labeled and outcast or a pervert. This book felt like I was coming out, at least possible and I found that writing it with my wife was cathartic. I'm hoping that the people who read this can show the same level of courage to tell the ones they love how they feel.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
You get to determine the destiny of your protagonist. We'd all like to do that in real life, but we don't usually have the choice.
What do you hope to attain by writing this story?
Again, I'd like to encourage men who appreciate or even 'worship' female muscle to come out of the closet and admit it. I'd also like to help take a step toward making the appreciation of fit and muscular women more mainstream. That goes for the women as well as the men who appreciate them.
What are you working on next?
Well, that depends on how this book does commercially. If it does well, I have an idea to develop a fantasy novel based on the two main characters in this book. A second thought would be a book based on when and how different individuals discovered their attraction for female muscle.
What do your fans mean to you?
I'm not sure I have many but I appreciate any who consider themselves "my fans." I guess they are encouragement to continue to write.
