Interview with J. Eden Adley

What is your writing process?
I think it through for a good bit. Then, I like plotting things out, sort of like timelines. The most important key to the process is patience.
Describe your desk
I'm always in my head. That's where it all exists and develops long before I ever write anything down. So, I don't have a physical desk, per se. My desk is any and everywhere I may be with something to write in or type on.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I mostly stumble upon them. Other than that, I look for books from my favorite genres, with themes or by authors I enjoy.
How do you approach cover design?
It has to have it's genre appeal. At the same time, with colors and details that stand out on a shelf or page.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
No, definitely not the first one I'd ever read. But, the first one I ever remember feeling a certain way about after reading was Drive-By by Lynne Ewing.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Not the first ever, but I do remember the first one that was a fully conceived story. I was in the 7th grade. It was about some of my favorite cartoon characters working together to find a lost ball. I think I won something for it, but I don't remember what exactly.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy watching movies, even while I'm writing. Films and music are equally as important to me as writing. For me, it's all about being able to express a story, no matter the medium.
What are you working on next?
I'm fleshing out some ideas about a very special group of sisters.
