Interview with Jeremy P. Boggess

Published 2020-06-07.
Why do you write?
This is a question that has been asked of me in one way or another.
Ever since I was a small child, I have felt and believed that within my lifetime there would be monumentally unprecedented and drastic changes throughout the world. And, I would have a personal responsibility to help contribute in surviving through changes. But I also believe that I am but a small drop or catalyst for others. My writing is merely the latest incarnation of this. This is my motivation. – It is more important to remember the words and actions than the man.
What do you fear for our world or the future?
Quite honestly, I fear another dark age, catastrophe, or even a chain of events that may take us an incredible amount of time and suffering to recover from. Or worse, we may not be able to recover from it.
If we were to somehow have a respite, it would only be a respite before we would have a different set of trials. Who is to say the next set of trials we face the circumstances will be more in our favor? They maybe even worse. Even within our recorded history each set of trials appears to have even more disastrous possible consequences.
What do you hope to accomplish?
Aside from survival, I hope you will think about the way in which we view the world. I hope you will get involved in a serious and open-minded intellectual discussion with one who does not necessarily share your views; thus you can change your views, evolve your views, or possibly discover holes in your views, so you may fill those holes and strengthen your own arguments. With any new perspectives we encounter, whether we agree with them or not, new knowledge of the situation is gained. With new knowledge of a situation comes a healthier ability to see the projected outcomes of our individual or compiled actions.
Who are your favorite thinkers?
There were so many great thinkers, but two that I can think of would have to be Socrates and Albert Einstein. – In addition to their individual contributions to thought, science, humanity, et cetera it would be Socrates for his personal dedication to the search of free thought and Einstein for his overcoming of personal obstacles to make contributions.
What are your favorite works of fiction?
Two of my favorite works of fiction are “Animal Farm” by George Orwell and “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury. These two pieces of fiction highlight the dangers and results of possible failures to vigilance.

Sometimes wonder if it is not for the better or such a ‘bad thing,’ that either position is unable to fully realize their full fantasy of goals. Sometimes the gradual implementation is more concerning than the spur of the moment. The spur of the moment action has less true forethought and can be brought into the light for response easier than the gradual action that has an implanted foothold. The gradual indoctrination and justification into anything can be slow, incremental, and of negligible concern until ...

What each of us personally defines as ‘Liberal’ or defines as ‘Conservative’ has the potential to vary. But we must not discount the fact that both may be trying to protect something that they believe needs to be protected. We may not believe in what another believes in. But I am not talking about a specific belief. I am talking about the protection of someone to hold a belief.

When a message is defined by the extremist the meaning, importance, and often the validity of the message can become distorted and clouded behind the rhetoric and the image of the extremist. We cannot let ourselves or others be deceived by the extremist rhetoric. Common sense and practicalities can become lost when the extremist leads. What I fear ...
