Interview with Jessica Hunter

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a suburban area of Washingon, D.C. This area was always a safe area to live in but we always had access to the city and to the national news and big stories that were hitting the nation. Going into the city was a dream for young professionals who wanted to start their lives and make their dreams come true. The story begins in Georgetown actually and characterizes ray as a aspiring writer, who is living and working in a bar in the DC area.
When did you first start writing?
I have always enjoyed creative writing as a young child. I first started writing this book after having a dream about a sotry about a serial killer. When I awoke I thought it was a story I had heard about on the news... it turns out it was my imagination telling me it was a story I needed to create.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My primary career in psychology is something I do on a daily basis. But writing is a passion I love to do in my own time. I wanted the ability to keep it my own and have control of the story and creative process.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating characters that are different than who I am and then developing their story.
What is your writing process?
An idea may come to me in something as simple as a dream and I take notes and take it from there. Often I may not even structure the characters in any waym the characters guide me.
