Interview with Jessica Simone

Who are your favorite authors?
Kristie Cook, Stephanie Meyers, Tamora Pierce she is my all time fave! I have a lot of authors that I look up to and enjoy reading their books.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My dog, which sounds crazy but honestly I get out of bed because I enjoy doing different things and it's never boring!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I'm a college student, so I write papers and hang out with friends. By the way, I'm a movie addict so during my free time I'm watching movies and t.v shows!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I normally read the summary of the ebooks, but what captures me is the ebook cover, if it looks interesting or "different", I will pick it up and read the summary, and from there, decide if I want to purchase it or not.
What is your writing process?
Since this is my first book, it took me a summer to write the whole thing. I was done with everything in about 2 years.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes! Alanna: The first Adventure! I was so moved by the characters in this story that I became fascinated with the genre/theme, and you can probably tell in my book that it has a "different theme" that you wouldn't really expect, but it works!
How do you approach cover design?
I knew I wanted my main characters to be on the cover design, there were no doubts about it. I just didn't how I wanted them to appear until I started brainstorming a little bit.
What do you read for pleasure?
Romance, Fantasy, and YA
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I've had my Nook for five years now and it's more important than my cell phone....that says alot! :)
Describe your desk
Simple. Lap top, bottle of water, NotePad, pencils and pens.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the city of South Florida, and I mostly stayed indoors while in my teens reading and writing (dabbling into poetry), when I wanted to "get away" from reality (which was often) I would dive into my books and get lost into another world. The genre(s) I read influence what I write or what I think about when I want to write.
