Interview with Joanne Jaytanie

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Far and away, my biggest reward is happy readers and making new friends! Having a person take the time out of their busy day to send me a note or post on Facebook how much they loved my book, makes me push forward to produce something even better.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on book #2 of the Winters Sisters Series.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Sherrilyn Kenyon. Her imagination is awe inspiring. Her determination to be published, turn down after turn down, propels me to keep moving forward with new ideas.

Clive Cussler is another of my favorites. The suspenseful adventures he writes keeps me on my toes and prompts me to invent new twists to excite my readers.

Thirdly, I would say Christine Feehan. She was the first paranormal author who made me realize that I wanted to write with at least elements of paranormal. Her world building is amazing and all of her series are my favorites!
What do you read for pleasure?
I read a variety of genres, mainly paranormal, thrillers, suspense, and of course all romance.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPad.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
A majority of the eBooks I read have been referred on facebook. I also like to read new authors that write in the genres I enjoy.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! I love getting feed back from my fans regarding what they enjoyed, their favorite part, or even about a scene they really didn't like.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I am not writing I love to read! I also spend time with my husband and dobermans. We love to take our trailer and get away for a weekend. Find a nice quiet park to visit and just hang out and walk the dogs.

For the last year or so we have been finishing a remodel, so I also spend time staining trim and helping my husband with our list of items to complete. Hoping that task will finally come to an end this year.
Describe your desk
My desk was handmade and is stained cherry. I have a breathtaking view of the Olympic Mountains and often find myself staring at them, while trying to work out my next scene.

I try to keep my desk neat, but usually find myself having to clean it off by the end of each week. Especially when I am engrossed in my current manuscript and tend to make piles.

There are pictures of the Dobermans I have lost siting in one corner, along with a silhouette of a Doberman head, which is a trophy my senior girl, Misty won at the Nationals years ago. Post-It notes, with important things to remember usually adorn the outer edges of my computer screen and my desk organizer. I make lists, but find post-its are the best way to remind me. A mouse pad displaying my debut novel "Chasing Victory," and usually a candle or two.
When did you first start writing?
I fell in love with writing in my freshman year of high school. I took Creative Writing and had the most outstanding teacher. Mr. Rapaport introduced me to a world I wanted to live in. To create my own world, the characters who lived in this world, and a pivotal event in their lives, with only my imagination as the limit. I knew right then and there, writing was going to be an important part of my life.
