Interview with Joel K Sullivan

What do you read for pleasure?
I generally read fantasy or adventure novels. I love to be able to visit the strange and amazing lands that can only be found in fantasy books.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I do most of my e-reading on my phone simply because I always have it on me.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing early on in school. Most of my stories and ideas as a kid weren't written down. While I played as a kid I came up with complex story lines for my toys or even while playing sports. I just never realised that I was writing. I didn't take it seriously until after high school, when I realised how much I love writing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
What I love most about writing is that there are no limits to what you can come up with. There is no direction a story can't go. There is nothing that is off the table or impossible to create.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on a fantasy novel that I'm really excited about. It's been a huge passion to tell this story and I can't wait to show other people the world I have created.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote was in grade three or four. It was a time travelling story about my brother and I ending up in the Jurassic Period. Fortunately for me, my teacher laminated it, so I still have it in perfect condition.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
My five favourite books are the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Hitchhikers guide, The Game of Thrones books, Harry Potter, and The Green Mile. I know this list technically contains way more then five books but it's difficult to separate a series of books.
Describe your desk
My desk is more cluttered than I would like it to be.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Hmm, I don't want to give that away just yet.
Who are your favorite authors?
One of my favourite authors is J.R.R. Tolkien because I love the world of Middle Earth the he created. I also really enjoy J. K. Rowling.
