Interview with Kalynn Bayron

What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on Six Points of Light Book 2. It will be available by the end of the year hopefully. I'm also finishing up Book 2 in the Quinn Santos series.
Who are your favorite authors?
Anne Rice, Brad Meltzer, Stephen King, Christopher Rice, JK Rowling, Shakespeare, Robert Frost, Anais Nin.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love opera, I'm an aspiring singer among other things! I love to sing, I love ballet, I love the outdoors. I try to do things that move me, otherwise I feel like I'm just wasting time.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first book I remember reading that had a huge impact on me was Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Hidden Staircase. I remember being absolutely obsessed with it and I even decided that my friends and I were going to start our own detective agency.
How do you approach cover design?
I like to keep it simple. I have a degree in Graphic Design so that helps quite a bit.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I love Historical Fiction because a story that weaves fantasy and reality is always exciting.
What do you read for pleasure?
Vampire novels. Mostly Anne Rice.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPad has the Nook app and the Kindle app, I also use iBook.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth has been the ultimate marketing tool for me. I use Facebook and Twitter as well.
Describe your desk
A roll top with lots of pens and paper for note taking. It's a mess!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. I had allot of time to write when I was younger because winters are long and dark, it fuels the imagination.
