Interview with K J Herbertson

What do your fans mean to you?
I think fans of any sort are very important, i hope to have some soon! They not only show that you are doing a good job or creating a worthwhile end product. But their continued support will inspire me to do better.
What are you working on next?
I have several other books on the way at the moment. Several are crime erotica based which i love to write. I also have a childrens sci fi novel and several childrens verse books nearly ready.
Who are your favorite authors?
I've always been a great lover of fantasy novels so. Eddings, Feist, Pratchet to name just a few. Recently i have read Patterson and Montanari novels which i really enjoyed.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Ha Ha, life and its various challenges! without a doubt.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
walking my dog in the Bulgarian sunshine during the summer. In winter I try to do the same but in 2 feet of snow it's difficult. I live with my partner in an old timber framed adobe walled house, of Turkish style origins. So there is always some renovation to do.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I just look at the genre that i prefer and then read the resumee to see if it excites me.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes and i was so happy when I eventually found a publisher to take it. Looking back it was a big mistake to sign away the rights to it.
What is your writing process?
I have an idea and then just sit and write. it comes straight from the grey matter.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Oh dear! A long time ago I read an old book called john Trusty which my great uncle gave to me. I loved it and still have it somewhere.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
a small e reader. lets me read in bed without keeping my partner awake
Describe your desk
cluttered, untidy or so I'm told.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Liverpool, lived on a farm until 5 years old and then moved south to the county of Essex. Here i lived in a rural village and had the pleasure of roaming the countryside and doing the things kids used to do.
