Interview with KS Henning

What's the story behind your latest book?
I'm working on book two of an Urban Fantasy series involving native american mythology. I've always felt that perspective was given short shift in most Urban Fantasy with only cameo-like appearances or made into the villains. Let them be the heroes for once!
What do you read for pleasure?
For fiction, I'm really not limited by genre. What I mostly look for are strong characters with a good story. For non-fiction, I like to read as many subjects as possible. How can you write fiction if you don't know about the real world?
When did you first start writing?
I fell in love with stories and story-telling very early. As soon as I could write at all, I wrote.
Describe your desk
Messy, messy, messy. Of course I really don't do much writing at my desk. I take my laptop around the house and find someone comfortable and get to it.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like not having an editor hack my work to death. Of course, that can leave you in a scary place where you have to make sure your work is as good as you can make it on your own.
Who are your favorite authors?
I'd probably crash the Smashwords site if I tried to list them all. The latest things I'm reading are CJ Box and Christopher Moore.

No one sane would have imagined that some of the things in existence were anything but fairy tales and scary stories but they were out there, hidden, biding their time, things from the realm of nightmares. Things you don’t want to disturb. But that’s me: rattler of cages and poker of things with a big, sharp stick. Stupid me.
