What is your e-reading device of choice?
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Topeka, Kansas and went to school in South Bend, Indiana. In high school, my Cherokee Indian English teacher and my Home Economics teacher influenced my writing.
When did you first start writing?
I enjoyed English class in high school but didn't really write until I was an adult when I attended a travel writing class. My articles were published in newspapers and magazines across the U. S. During this time, I was inspired to write my novel and since have written memoirs, poetry and short stories.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My story does not stem from personal experiences or true life. My muse was present and guided me as I wrote.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love the creativity and excitement of creating story and being able to use unlimited imagination. Writing is great therapy.
What are you working on next?
I am working on creating a book of memoirs, plus a second book of poetry.
Who are your favorite authors?
Maeve Binchy is number one. LaVeryl Spencer, Fern Michaels and Jeannette Wells also.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I am not writing, I indulge in oil painting, gardening or working crosswords.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was about an incident that happened in Home economics class that earned me an A in English class.
What is your writing process?
I just sit down and start and see what happens.
