Interview with Karen Seinor

Published 2014-05-19.
What are you working on next?
Tarot & Yoga is my current writing project. Drawing the correlation between the ancient archetypes and yogic postures is quite a trip. Im loving the embodiment aspect; ém-bodying the tarot is taking me deeper into understanding the archetypes, myself and the healing practice of yoga. Its such a gift to sit with these apparently different healing modalities and to experience the blending of them within the self.
Who are your favorite authors?
Oh definately James Wanless whose enthusiasm and child-like glee makes launching into the world of tarot as simple as diving in to the ocean :) Also Rachel Pollack - I love all her stuff, and Mary Greer, who is a great researcher and shares her wisdom and always seems to be on trend.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My clients inspire me.
I could happily stay in bed with a weak black tea and my lap top until about 2 oçlock in the afternoon because I get great ideas and do my best writing in bed - but I only allow that on Sundays :) I usually organise to meet up with friends to exercise in the mornings (I wouldnt let them down :) so it is enforced ejection from the sacred dreaming place for me and then I am enthused and envigorated for the day and ready to totally enjoy the work the day brings.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Walking my dog, spending time with family and friends or working with clients.
I'm either at the clinic seeing Hypnotherapy clients or doing readings, face to face here in Australia or online with clients who are further afield.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I trawl through Smashwords of course!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a poem rather than a story. I was about 13 when I wrote it, we were out camping in the bush. Mum and my brothers and they had hit the swags. I was sitting by the fire watching the flames and they began to dance. I could hear the kangaroos in the surrounding bush, the stars overhead, the night was so clear. It was one of those magical times where everything becomes crystalised and then there is a gentle flow and the words just come. I was so proud of that poem.
