Interview with Karen Walsh

Published 2014-03-09.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
It's finding the best combination of words that express my true feelings. A phrase to describe it would be, "surprising myself".
Who are your favorite authors?
Dr. Wayne Dyer and Eckhart Tolle are a few of my favorite authors. I appreciate their awareness and gifts of spreading the message of raising human consciousness which has led to my spiritual growth. I also admired O.Henry's short stories for their surprise endings and Edgar Allen Poe's poetry.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have to feed and let the dog out.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love the outdoors, so hiking in the woods with Tanner my pet Goldendoodle is a joy. As long as my knees hold out, I will engage in all sort of sport activities such as beach volleyball, biking, kayaking etc.
What is your writing process?
It's all about coming up with an idea and putting a certain twist to it that makes me laugh and hoping my readers will too.
When did you first start writing?
I probably started in high school with poems. I didn't take writing seriously until I was in between jobs and had the time to take some creative writing courses in my late thirties.
