Interview with Kate Channing

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating memorable characters.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are everything. I love hearing what their feedback. There'd be no point if writing without them.
What are you working on next?
It's called BECAUSE OF YOU. It deals with drug abuse, PTSD, and sexuality.
Who are your favorite authors?
Colleen Hoover, John Green, Jay Asher
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to watch movies and TV shows (I'm currently addicted to Arrow). I also spend a lot of time reading, and hanging with my family.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first book I wrote was about a bunny and his bouncing blue ball... yeah, it was a keeper and should be a NYT bestseller. =)
What is your writing process?
I usually come up with an idea. Write it down. Mull it over a while. If I like it, then I create characters and an outline. The writing is pretty quick once that is done.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It was a Dr. Suess book. Green Eggs and Ham, I believe. I loved the way he told a story in rhyme.
How do you approach cover design?
I have an idea in my head and then hire a cover artist to do the work.
What do you read for pleasure?
Romance. If there isn't a romance in the story, I'm not interested. After that, I'm pretty open to different types of genre.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It's inspired by real events, a combination of a couple of different people I know.
