Interview with Kathryn Eriksen

What's the story behind your latest book?
"Heart Dancing: A Story Alchemy Adventure" is a work of fiction about a troubled family who walks through the fires of anger, hate and rage to discover a new way of seeing each other, themselves and their past. Embedded in the story are tools and techniques on how to become a deliberate creator, instead of an unconscious reactor to outside events.

"Heart Dancing" is based on a compilation of inspirational, metaphysical and quantum physics materials that when understood and used together, transforms lives. For the first time, I reveal the "Story Alchemy Process" and it transforms the lives of the characters. My hope is that readers will resonate with the conflicts, anger and resentment of the characters, and will want to know more about how Story Alchemy can help them after they set down the book.

I created Story Alchemy after analyzing how I changed stories from my own past. It is a simple but profound evolutionary process that dissolves the past and clears your perspective of the present moment. Your decisions, actions and goals are then re-aligned with your authentic self, not a persona you created from past events or judgments.

Anyone struggling to make sense of their life, anyone who wonders how they got off track or anyone tired of feeling sad, lonely or frustrated will discover or recognize something in this book that help them on their journey. "Heart Dancing" demonstrates how to change your life, one step at a time.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I am passionate about teaching others about how to live their life creatively and deliberately. My greatest joy is sharing the information and techniques I have used myself and shared with others. They really work and they are so easy to start using - I want to shout about them from the rooftops! Since that is not the most effective way to reach the most number of people (lol), I write books and blog articles instead.

I see so much pain, anger and hurt in others that may no longer serve them. If I can show them the doorway to a different life, that is where I find my value. Of course, it is up to them to walk through the door and choose differently!

The same information and techniques found in "Heart Dancing" also helped me transform my own life. My mission is to share these simple techniques so others can free themselves from a past that no longer serves them.

The end game is to be happy, healthy and healed.
You mentioned being a deliberate creator. Are there certain principles involved in deliberate creation?
Yes, there are many principles that support becoming a deliberate creator. The top three include:

1. It all starts with thoughts becoming things. What you think about becomes your reality. That sounds simplistic, but it really is true. When you change your thoughts, you change your beliefs about the world. When your beliefs shift, your perceptions change. You begin to make different decisions, which then transforms your life.

2. You can only create in the present moment. If your present moment is clouded by guilt or fear, your ability to create is strongly affected. Why not clear the present moment so your creativity can flourish? Each moment presents a new opportunity to chose love over fear.

3. If you continually tell yourself limiting stories based on past events, you have already impacted what you create in the present moment. The simple 4 step "Story Alchemy Process" is a transformative tool that reframes those stories from lead into gold. When your past is no longer influencing your present, you step into your creative powers.

There is one foundational principle on which all of the others rest. It is the rock on which you create your life. The plot, characters and story line in "Heart Dancing" pull back all of the layers of conscious creation until you finally reach the core. Once you acknowledge this one principle, everything changes.
What is this one core principle?
It is so basic, so simple that as soon as you hear it, you instantly recognize its truth.

Without giving it away, it has to do with living and seeing from your heart.

That is why I named the book, "Heart Dancing."
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote was about a pelican and a penguin. The penguin got lost from his parents and was carried to a distant shore. As he lay exhausted on the beach, the seagulls and terns laughed at him because he couldn't fly. A pelican flew down to see what all of the commotion was and discovered that the penguin was just a baby and needed help. They became fast friends and learned to appreciate their strengths and differences.

That same theme of appreciating others and accepting their differences runs through all of my books.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I enjoy the immediacy of being able to write and publish without having to seek permission from a publisher. My stories are the way that I express my deepest longings, strongest fears and wildest dreams. Creating and writing stories allows me to delve deeper into sensitive subjects and explore the tricky emotional issues that result from the characters' motivations and decisions.

My hope is that my stories resonate with readers who can recognize part of themselves in the plot, conflict or characters. My goal is to open a new awareness in my reader's mind of another way to approach or address a situation or problem that exists in their life right now. My dream is to show another way to live - happy, healthy and healed.
What are you working on next?
I am working on the second novel in the "Heart Dancing" series. It focuses on Avatar, the golden retriever who knows a thing or two about conscious creation.
Who are your favorite authors?

Gay Hendricks - "The Rule of Ten" series
