Interview with Kellie H.

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading! I love to read which is one reason I decided to become a writer.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read a lot of Urban Fiction as well as spiritual/self-help books like Joel Osteen
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I actually read on the kindle app on my iPad
Describe your desk
My desk is simple. Mac laptop, pens, lamp, notepad
What's the story behind your latest book?
I decided to write my first book after dealing with a season of unemployment. I was unemployed for two years! I dealt with frustration, sadness, lack and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why I could not get a job. Then it hit me, I had to change. In order for things to change for me and around me, I needed to make some changes otherwise I'd be stuck! So I took it upon myself to do what I needed to do to get out of the struggle I was in. My first ebook is somewhat of a guide to help you get through what you're going' through. We all deal with a trying time in our life, but what we do in the midst of it is the real test.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to help people!
Being able to empower, inspire and motivate
What are you working on next?
My next ebook will be for young girls. The book will discuss sex, self-confidence, social media, relationships etc. My hope is that it will flourish into speaking engagements!
What is your writing process?
My writing process is simple. I quickly outline, write whatever thoughts come into my head and start writing. I usually write in a notebook and then type everything out. I like putting pen to paper! And I usually write my introduction last.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing a book in 2007, just to exercise my writing ability. Although I didn't finish that particular book, I knew I wanted to become an author. It's such a thrill being able to escape based solely on what's on the page in front of you.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have so many thoughts and ideas in my head so why not share them!? And why not have control over the content I want to share?
Have you ever thought about blogging?
Yes! I would love to create a blog based on my ebook(s). Being able to encourage and inspire someone on a daily basis is a goal of mine and I think a blog would allow me to reach a broader audience.
