Interview with Keshena Patterson

When did you first start writing?
I started writing my first book "I Kept My Smile.." in January 2016. It is a very unique process to write an actual book but I am so glad to have accomplished something I wanted to do for years.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story is I have a condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome PCOS that I've struggled and really had a hard time with growing up but I took matters into my own hands and began to find better ways to live with it. I knew my story needed to be shared with others who have it or to share my story as a testimony to God's work.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I believe this was the best and less stressful route to take. It also allows me more control overall for the book and what I can do with it.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To release so much that was bottled in and bring emotion and truth in a form of a book
What do your fans mean to you?
My "fans" mean a lot to me. I hope they believe in the book that I've worked so hard to create and know that I did this to show anybody can accomplish their dreams.
What are you working on next?
Its going to be a guide for young women who decides to move out of state or across the country for new beginnings when they're leaving behind their family and friends.
Who are your favorite authors?
Too many to name but Iyanla Vanzant, and Terry McMillan are a few to name
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
To be the best woman I can be, to take advantage of each day I'm blessed with. To inspire and be inspired. To live each day to the fullest knowing I did it my way.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working as a CT Radiology Tech, working out, traveling, eating great food. sleeping, and whatever else I decide to do that's fulfilling.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Definately ipad for sure. But NOTHING will never compare to an actual paperback copy. Keep it old-school too :)
