Interview with Ciaran O'Neill

What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPad Mini
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I'm really new to all of this, so I haven't tried anything yet!
Describe your desk
Messy! The laptop is in the centre surrounded by a mixture of cables, card readers, hard drives, diaries, pens and the odd empty coffee cup.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up on a farm. Once when i was very young, the whole family, including my sister's new boyfriend, had to help get our cattle out of a neighbours field. After a few failed attempts the new boyfriend asked "What do we do if we can't get them back into our field?" We all stopped and stirred at him. No one had ever considered an alternative to succeeding! I call myself determined, my wife might call it bull headed!
When did you first start writing?
I don't really think of what I do as writing. I love photography, I live and breathe it. I love to learn about it and i love to share what I know. I guess writing my ebooks is a way to keep talking about it...even when there is nothing there to hear!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords have made it possible for me to publish my work. I have no interest in learning about publishing and all the background stuff. If they hadn't made it so easy I simply wouldn't have done it.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
A good review. Helping someone learn a little more or just understand a little better makes it worthwhile.
What do your fans mean to you?
If I had any, they would mean a lot.
What are you working on next?
A lot of people have asked about a Wedding based book, so I might take a look at that.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
We used to have a dog that got really excited when you opened the back door to let him in. A few minutes later he would get really excited when you opened the back door to let him out. I try to be like him. I love going to bed because I'm sleepy, then I love getting up because I'm not!1
