Interview with Kyrian Lyndon

Published 2015-01-14.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I am not patient when it comes to certain things. Honestly, I didn't want to jump through hoops, feel pressure, relinquish control. I wanted to get my work out there. It's all about connecting with the readers today. That's the most important thing. It doesn't matter anymore how you do it. The readers will have the final say as to whether what you write is worth reading.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am new to Smashwords, but so far it has been an easy, painless process, and it's fast. I can't ask for more.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Reading (or hearing) what the reader has to say about it, their thoughts about characters and scenes, what moved them, what made them laugh. I also just love to do it, to create my best work and know I've achieved what I wanted to achieve with that effort. Being able to do this makes me happy to be alive no matter what is going on. I love it more than just about anything, not more than anyone but more than anything.
What do your fans mean to you?
I hate the word fans. I don't like the word followers either. I think of people who enjoy my work as people I connect with, kindred spirits, and they mean something to me. They have a genuine place in my heart. Connecting with people is important to me. Sharing your heart and soul with another... what is better than that? These people who let me do that are simply the best. I love them.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a series of about nine books. It's called Deadly Veils. It follows the lives of some very interesting people with mental and emotional challenges. There is a lot of intrigue, mystery and good human interest/psychological drama with an element of Gothic fiction.
Who are your favorite authors?
Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters, Oscar Wilde, to name a few.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Writing and another chance to get things right (life).
