Interview with Charlie Smith

What are you working on next?
My next book is a sequel to Young Volcanoes, called Growing Up. It's coming out on Christmas of 2016
Who are your favorite authors?
Stephen Chbosky, Jennifer Niven, John Green
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Listening to music, reading the bible, studying, reading YA novels, working on my bookstagram
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Gosh, that was so long ago, I think it was called Yes so too girl. My concept was that she only ever said yes, so, and too.
I was like...5 when I came up with this
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mostly Wattpad, haha
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Jehovah. Writing. My followers.
What is your writing process?
Mostly I write things when I'm inspired. Then I'm like, "Hey, that's good. Let me save it to Wattpad." And if I decide it's good enough, I'll publish it.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Let's see. The latest first book I remember is when I read The Cat Ate My Gym Suit. Paula Dantzinger was my FAVORITE author growing up, and that's when I knew I wanted to write.
How do you approach cover design?
Cover designs are done by a friend of mine who is good with computer software. Personally, I love drawing, so I just tell her how I want it to look and she does it.
What are your favorite books, and why?
The Perks of Being a Wallflower- I understand his struggles (being a wallflower myself) and it was like I knew him personally. That's how I got my writing name.

All The Bright Places- Finch broke my heart over and over again, but I still love him. I know that whole waking up in the morning, not knowing if it was a good day to die or not. Broke my heart.

The last one would have to be anything by Judy Blume, Paula Dantzinger or Barbara Park. haha
What do you read for pleasure?
YA novels
Published 2016-06-02.
