Interview with Lee masters

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Atlanta, GA in a very conservative home. Religion, education, history, and politics were the main subjects discussed at our dinner table. Therefore, I grew up enjoying a more global perspective on life. We attended church at least three times a week. While others read the Holy Bible with certain interpretations, in my mind's eye, as I read I actually saw the stories, verses, and lessons in astrological terms. As a result, for me the Bible was the greatest astrological textbook I have studied. My writings until now have been limited to private papers and reports for clients. I have given presentations with PowerPoint slides and always provided hand-outs for my public speaking. It is now time (2014) for me to begin publishing works for public consumption. There is no doubt that all everything that has happened in my life as well as all the people with whom I've interacted over these years have a great impact on my thinking and my openness to channeling information to type (write). It is important to me that people know they have a right to where they are now in their own thinking. I don't try in any way to force my beliefs on others and I don't allow them to force their beliefs on me.
When did you first start writing?
In 2014 I will be publishing ebooks and plan to also release those in hardback and paperback format. A couple of years ago I began writing a novel on the Aquarian Age and also began working on a few non-fiction works to publish in the future. I do have boxes of research papers and notes I've written on Aquarian Age Astrology, which is different from Piscean Age Astrology and Vedic. Astrologies from all eras are a part of the whole and one is not superior to another - they simply add different perspectives for people interested in seeing life through various lenses. I also will be writing on various metaphysical subjects.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like having the control to publish my own works and I especially like publishing as ebooks so we avoid destroying trees in order to provide ONLY hardback and paperback books. Digital publishing is very appealing to me, although I do plan to publish in hard copies. Some people prefer holding a book in their hands rather than using a digital reader and it is not in my nature to disregard those readers.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Whether writing or speaking, I am filled with joy when someone is enlightened by the information and especially when that person is able to "find" himself or herself. Many New Age people, especially those living in rural communities, can feel quite alone and lonely. Nearby bookstores may not carry New Age books to any extent. By having websites and ebooks available online, these people can discover they are not at all separated from others of us who are on the same wavelength. I do trust that writings I publish will be helpful to readers.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a novel that reveals Aquarian Age information and I'm also writing a few non-fiction works on the Aquarian Age. I've also started a book on development of spiritual awareness in general. A few other books are works in progress, including one on Facial Yoga. Some of my books will feature the Quick, Smart, EZ, & Aware (TM) information.
Who are your favorite authors?
Of all the astrology books I've studied, other than the Holy Bible, the texts by the late Ivy Goldstein-Jacobson are my favorites. She was a magnificent astrologer and teacher. I also enjoy Jack Gillen books, although they are very difficult to find. There are many excellent New Age authors and I suggest that newbies, if possible, visit a bookstore that carries New Age works and instead of just looking at titles and authors, to use the receptive hand (often left hand) and run it across the spines of the books available, but about an inch from the book (not actually touching the book). One will know when there is a book that he/she should pull out to look at and usually these are the books needed at the time. As we say in metaphysics, :"When the student is ready, the teacher appears." and this can be via a person who is knowledgeable on a topic, a person bringing us a conflict to deal with, or some media, such as written, visual, etc. We constantly learn through many sources, if we are open to that, and it is wise to learn to trust oneself instead of simply digesting and parroting everything one is told or one reads.
What is your writing process?
I don't consider myself the writer - I am more of a channel for Universal Teachings. For me that process is to sit at the computer, ask for guidance from the Universe (God, the All-Knowing, or whatever term one wants to use), place my fingers on the keyboard, and wait as long as is necessary for my fingers to begin to type words. Also, there are times when I awake in the middle of the night and something important has become a construct in my brain. I MAKE myself get up, boot the computer (if it is a lengthy construct) and write it or (if brief info) I grab a sheet of paper and hand-write the note. In my entire life, I have never once failed to get up and write information, regardless of how appealing it would be to simply go back to sleep. This is why I have so many files and boxes of research notes. The goal now is to get them into ebook format and publish them.
How do you approach cover design?
As I do with the books I write under my name Lee Gabor, I will find a photo that represents the thought and either use that to create a cover or I will design a cover using a graphic I've already drawn. Either way, I will be using Microsoft Photo Draw.. I do have Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop, but I like the Microsoft program better because of its simplicity.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I will be using my blog and Twitter and possibly Facebook, although I find the latter is slow now with so many people using the social networking site. I also will send out press releases.
What do your fans mean to you?
I don't yet have fans, since I haven't published a book as yet. However, I do trust that what I provide will be helpful to individuals. I am never happy if I feel as though the person doesn't believe he or she received benefit from the time and, if applicable, money expenditure. I have noticed that many people who buy and read ebooks don't leave a review or comment online and it seems to me the comments can be very enlightening to authors. I hope when I publish that my readers will offer feedback. As to what people mean to me, I believe we are all connected and we all are important with a specific destiny to fulfill. Only by each person fulfilling that destiny can we progress as a civilization. I appreciate the human interaction and do my best to be fair and to contribute to others.
