Interview with Lita Bronwyn

What is your writing process?
It varies actually. Sometimes I will get an idea from a song lyric, or the general feel of a song. With just one sentence, I can visualize a character saying, or feeling that exact emotion, and then I just let my mind run with it. An entire character, or synopsis can form in my mind based on that alone. From there I just fill in the blanks.
Sometimes it seems as though the sentences write themselves. I may have a general scene in mind, of what's going to happen, but often I don't know what is going to be said, or what will happen, until I have already typed it out. It is a very organic process when it happens that way. Sometimes I will be in the car, or running errands, and a thought will come to me, I have to write it down, because often I just know that a whole scene will come from it. Those are the times that I will pop my laptop open and start typing. Other times, I will put my headphones on and listen to some music while I write, that is when things really start to flow.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read paranormal romance mostly. YA, young adult. I feel that that is where the most creative writing is right now. I like to see and feel the world that the author has created come to life around me. When I forget that what I'm reading is a story. I think lots of readers feel the same way. It's about making me forget, bringing me somewhere else, and making me care about that place, and those people. That's what I like the most.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I read on my kindle fire a lot, but I am also a lover of books themselves. The paper, the binding, the cover, everything. I go to my local library on a regular basis. I also adore the book stores, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed, because I just love everything, and I can't buy them all:)
Describe your desk
Laptop, kindle, headphones, notebooks, with sections tabbed out. Post it notes, little decorative trinkets that make me happy. i have a bottle charm with a fairy on it that was made by my Bestie, A ruby slipper ornament from another, and lots of artwork from my kids.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I'm not sure growing up in Southern New England has really influenced my writing, however, how I grew up may have. I was as young as 12, in my room, banging away on an old school type writer. I remember getting lost in it for hours, creating worlds, emotions of people I invented. It was similar then, as it is now, things would just come from my fingertips, to the keys, and worlds, and people were born. I grew up never feeling limitations. I feel very lucky to have had that. I think it subconsciously helped me create. There was no one to tell me that I couldn't, or that I was wrong.
When did you first start writing?
Probably as soon as I could write I started with poetry, as many young girls do. Even if it was just a line or two. I did that a lot. Write just a line or two that I thought were just awesome, then I'd go back and try to make something more from it.
Before long, it was epic poems and short stories. I stopped writing after I got married, and it was a long time before I started again. But It was always there, scratching to be let out.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I heard a lyric, and it just hit me in a certain way, and I visualized Gabriel. How he was, how he felt, and what his goals were. He and Amelia both grew quickly in my mind, and I had to start typing things out right away. I like that Amelia is natural, just an average chick. She's intelligent, so throwing her into this kind of new world was interesting. To see how she handles unbelievable things happening. There's so much more in the second book that will blow her mind, it's interesting to see how she deals with things. It's also nice to watch Gabriel struggle with his own secrets, and his love for Amelia pushing him to reveal all.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I think the best part of writing, is going back and reading it, and semi forgetting that I wrote it. When the story makes me want to keep reading, when I can see it all in my mind, as the reader, that makes me happy. That makes me want to share the story.
What are you working on next?
Right now, I am working on finishing book two of Glow. I have no idea where Amelia and Gabriel's journey will lead us, but I will keep writing it. After that, I am thinking I may write something involving Gods and Goddesses, or ancient legends in the modern world. Guess we'll have to wait and see!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Homeschooling my kids, chasing escaped chickens or Tending to the gardens and the animals on our small farm. I love to read when ever I can, and I watch a lot of Netflix and YouTube. I try to stay away from network tv and mainstream media.
How can fans reach you?
I am on Facebook, yahoo ( and Twitter. I love to hear from fans, I love feedback and ideas!
