Interview with Lucy Marie Gibson

What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I don't know. I'm in the ignorant zone when it comes to marketing. I'm open to suggestions.
Describe your desk
Cluttered. And decorated with post it notes.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee. I've always been a country girl, but I prefer the term "hillbilly." (LOL)

I would always dream a lot growing up. My attention would always wander around a lot. (Attention Deficit Disorder) It still does. In the seventh grade, that's when it really hit me what I wanted to do.
When did you first start writing?
Seventh grade. I could put my feelings down on paper. I could get away with murder on paper. I could do anything I wanted down on paper. It was awesome! I love it!
What's the story behind your latest book?
For a long time (namely years), I couldn't find my own voice. I had the writing ability, but I didn't know where my true voice lies. I didn't do romance very well, even though I knew what I wanted in romance. I wasn't very funny. I'd always try to stay hidden from my peers. Adventure? Only in my dreams.

But then, Nintendo came out. And that's when I discovered another passion. After that, I was hooked and corrupted. I played Zelda, Duck Hunt, Mario Bros. Metroid. And then Final Fantasy came out. After playing that game, that was it. The story ideas erupted like an atomic bomb going off in my head. I had finally found my voice. Hence, the storyline from my latest book.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Luck! I first discovered it on Amazon. That's when I knew that it was free to publish. But, there were limitations. With Smashwords, my wings are spread.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
So far so good. I don't yet. I just got started. Only time will tell.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
It means I can get away from my world and into a new one of my own creation. I'd almost given up hope on getting my books published. Until I stumbled upon Smashwords. Now, I'm inspired to complete my works.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean a whole lot to me. I can't succeed without them.
What are you working on next?
My next book, "Enchanted Vows," Book 2 of the "Crystals of Myst" series. You can check out my website for more details on a list of my books I'm working on.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My book. I love to write. I'll continue to write until I can't do it anymore.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Spending time with family and friends. Always important.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Seek and I shall find.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I was in the 8th grade. I had an English teacher who actually came down to my level. He made it easy for me to write. Since then, there's no holds barred.
