Well as much as a nonfiction book can have a story. This story begins with the creation or migration of life on or to our planet. As our fossil records show there were many forms of life all competing for predatory dominance. There are many plots and twists to this story that have played out over billions of years. The competing life forms in this story all had a singular objective to stay alive long enough to reproduce and prevent the extinction of their species. Most competing life forms will not succeed and only the ones with the best offensive and or defensive predatory adaptations will get to stay in this game. All of us competing life forms are very much like unwitting actors naturally following a script we had no control over. Just following our predatory survival instincts encoded in our genetic memory without the ability to intellectually comprehend our existence.
This story really starts to get interesting only during the last few seconds when our species broke all the rules of the game by developing a new survival trait (Intelligence). Using this extraordinary survival trait we started dominating all other competing life forms. We humans have won this game. The prize is ours. But this is not the end of the story, in fact we humans are just about to break the rules again and start a whole new chapter and the best part is yet to come. Want to know a secret? Our species is about to make the most extraordinary evolutionary transition. We are about to take control of our intellectual evolutionary development and bring an end to the predatory evolution of our species. We humans will no longer compete against one another for our survival like lower life forms must do. We will become the first known species to break the control of our hardwired survival instincts for predatory domination and construct advanced societies free of social economic conflicts. My favorite part of the story is when we humans realize we have the power to take control of our evolutionary development and bring an end to all mindless conflicts for survival. From the distant past to the near future, this is a story I want to be part of.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
It was after a discovery process identified the primary factor responsible for the most preventable suffering and death throughout the evolutionary development of our species when I felt I must shear this knowledge with the world. It became clear that writing a book and starting a non-profit organization to implement its solutions would be the best way to go. For many years I’ve watched needless preventable tragedies taking place every day all over the world. Like so many others I feel compelled to offer my creative and intellectual skills to help reduce the needless suffering and death of our species. But I was not satisfied treating a symptom, I wanted to eliminate the cause at the source and end the predatory evolution of our species. No more messing around the time to act is now. I know it’s not your average motivation to become an author, but it’s a good one.
What kind of books do you feel provide the most educational value to readers?
I feel books that help explain the source of peoples suffering and death and new innovative ways to correct these problems are most valuable to readers. Although I also understand the desire for fictional entertainment and the satisfaction it can provide readers. Fiction can not only entertain but also spark the imagination to inspire non-fictional real world solutions.
How do you approach cover design?
I wanted an eye catching colorful front cover that was symbolic of the content in the book. I wanted to use the back cover to illustrate the solutions offered in the book.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Because of my dyslexic brain wiring, writing is very difficult for me. If not for voice dictation software I may still be trying to finish my first book. My real joy is designing new technologies and products that can be used to support a predator free society and end our competition for survival. For me researching, writing, web design and founding TFT is all part of a complicated challenge necessary to accomplish a specific goal. The reword for this effort will hopefully be when more people start to get a grater understanding of our evolutionary transition away from our predatory past and a strong desire to accelerate the process into a predator free future. I want to see the exponential growth designed into a predator free social economic system functioning and with that will come the greatest joy of all, knowing millions of families will be ending their competition for survival.
What do you read for pleasure?
This may seem weird, but I only read for information not entertainment. I do however get a lot of satisfaction from learning new things especially about advanced technologies and materials that can be used in forming new abstract solutions and product designs. I also enjoy reading about new scientific discoveries that may provide a grater understanding of the big picture, meaning of life stuff.
What are you working on next?
Writing the book “Breaking the Chains of Capitalism, An Evolutionary Journey to True Freedom” and founding the non-profit TFT “True Freedom Technologies” is the first step in a multi phase plan of action. Using book sales and donations, the next phase will create a computer-aided design and prototyping system as well as an AI (artificial intelligence) master control system. Both systems will play a critical roll in the creation and daily function of an advanced ACI (Automated Community infrastructure) capable of supporting a predator free society. For more details visit the TFT website.
Who are your favorite authors?
Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, Robert Reich. I am drawn to others that share my desire to use education to affect social change. I believe the collective efforts of these authors and others in combination with global communication technologies, has brought the intellectual evolutionary development of our species to a tipping point where our predatory exploitation under capitalism will no longer be tolerated by the working class majority or considered an acceptable way of life for our future.
What is your writing process?
I gather the current factual knowledge on a subject and verify it with other corroborating information. It’s kind of like building a fact puzzle where each piece is showing part of a bigger picture. After connecting the pieces I try to stand back so I can better see the big picture. Gathering the factual knowledge seems like the easier part compared to making a relevant abstract connection between bits of information to connect the pieces of the puzzle. I think writing fiction may be fun just letting my imagination go wild but for a non-fiction book that offers not only factual knowledge but also a comprehensive solution to reduce suffering and death on a global scale there’s a lot more to consider. Trying to put into words the importance of end our predatory evolution and accelerating our transition to a predator free society has been the most changing task in my life. I only wish it didn’t take me so long to understand the concepts in my book and offer a solution to the public for consideration.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Because writing is just one aspect or task to accomplish a greater goal, I spend a lot of time on creating the TFT website, learning things like, corporate administration, programming languages, database management, new graphic arts effects for the web, the evolving publishing industry, etc. Since I am years behind schedule accomplishing my task, I don’t give myself much personal time. I work out at my club, help my Mom and watch a documentary, news, or a sci-fi when my brain needs a brake.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I like the Nexus 7 it’s a good size and has a nice high-resolution color display.
Smashwords Interviews are created by the profiled author, publisher or reader.
This book offers for consideration an integrated social economic structure and technical solution capable of ending the predatory evolution of our species. This book also explains the primary factor responsible for the most preventable suffering and death throughout the evolutionary development of our species and how to correct this dysfunction at its source.
