Interview with Marcy A.

How do you approach cover design?
I usually try to create a cover myself by taking what I know my story is about & really incorporating it into the cover. If it's an essential part, chances are it'll be on the cover. If I can't create a cover for whatever reason, then I would ask someone I know who is skilled at cover art to assist me with it.
What are you working on next?
I'm working on a poetry book in honor of a friend who recently passed away.
Who are your favorite authors?
Rick Riordan & J.K. Rowling are just some of my favorite authors.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Writing, animals, my family, music, food, & beverages are the main things that get me out of bed each morning.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I usually sing & just relax, no matter how much work I have to do. Just because I have a lot of work doesn't mean I should allow it to take over my life & have it prevent myself from living my life.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember one of the first books I ever read on my own without any help was called Sylvester & the Magic Pebble. That book was what made me grow a love for reading. If it weren't for that one story, I probably wouldn't love reading that much, especially since I started from such a young age.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I actually never really completed a true story, but I recall making a lot of short of stories; none of which were legible though.
What is your writing process?
Whatever comes to me randomly, I write down & later build on it. I try not to let a single idea go to waste, no matter how bad it may seem at first. Even the worst ideas can eventually become the best masterpieces.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to create new worlds & show others what I think, believe, & imagine has got to be one of the greatest joys of writing for me.
Describe your desk.
So messy. It's hard to describe. It's like a war took place on my desk. But I don't really mind because the fact that I have to think every time I need to get something really helps me use my brain (& yes, I did just come up with that excuse a few minutes ago).
