Interview with Marissa Bonifay

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I always have my iPhone with me and I enjoy the fact that I have multiple reading platforms on one device. I am not loyal to any one platform.
Describe your desk
I try to keep it neat, but somehow I always end up with multiple projects, books, and other items piled on it.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small village on an island far away. I was always a bit of an outcast, never really fitting in due to my heritage, as I would later discover. I write because I have a story to tell, and my upbringing played a role in the person I would become and the person I am today.
When did you first start writing?
I do not recall ever *not* writing. However, my earliest writings have long since been lost to this plane of existence.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Slices of Midnight is the story of how I discovered my true heritage and my place in society. In many ways, it was the beginning of my story. Jon and I plan to continue the saga through a series of novels and podcasts.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Although I originally sought after big-name publishing houses, I have since come to realize that I wish to keep creative control and ownership over my works.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am always seeking to learn something new. There is not enough time, even when one lives thousands of years, for one person to know everything there is to know.
