Interview with Maryah Rose

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in Alaska. Seeing the beauty of nature my entire life it made me feel alive.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing short stories back when i was about eleven years old, along with my poems. I never really got into it fully until my tenth grade English teacher encouraged me to publish one of my short stories in our school paper. To say I was nervous is an understatement, but it gave me the encouragement to start sharing both my short stories and poetry with the world.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
After finishing my first book and having it posted on a website and seeing the responses I had received i knew that i wanted to have it published. I had done some looking around, I had contacted a few actual publishing companies as well and basically got laughed at. But not becoming discouraged from it I published my on my own.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy of writing is when I see comments from my readers stating how much they love it. It is a feeling unlike anything else.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean the world to me, as I am sure they do to any author. But for me it's like a euphoria.
What are you working on next?
I am working on the sequel to my first book A Shifter's Secret, along with another book.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors.... hmmm.. Definitely Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward, Christine Feehan, Lara Adrian, Lynsay Sands
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I am not writing I am painting, spending time with my loving husband and our four legged son.
Describe your desk
My desk... I want to say what is that some of the times because for me my desk is where ever I am at with my laptop and I feel the urge to write. Whether it be at my actual desk, or on a plane or even out at the beach.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is just as spastic as I am. I write down the random words that pop into my mind knowing that if I do not I will not be able to remember it. Some of the times it is poems, other times it is parts I end up using for one of my books.
