Interview with Lucky O. Ighedose, Ph.D

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was a life of two faces; depicting squalor in the midst of gold.
What is your writing process?
I use simple and concise expressions to create understanding for my readers. I don't believe in opaque expression. Simple words are good because they create clarifications easily and make the readers feel interested.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
If I remember vividly, it was 'Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe. It was very interesting. It created vivid imagery in my mind as if I was led into the author's world without any form of ambiguity. It was a story of passion, bravery and kingsman-ship.
How do you approach cover design?
The cover design, to me, is to be coined from the entire gamut of what the text of a book is like. It gives sharp illustration of what a reader should expect from the book.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
So many books. I am a voracious reader. I read virtually anything that comes way. I like picking knowledge here and there and thus aspiring to become an all-rounder. It would be hard for me to choose any favourite because that would be a disservice to the multitude of authors I admire from friction to non-fiction; political books, law, education, healthcare management and the rest of them.
What do you read for pleasure?
Books on adventure, romance and law books. I just laughed because reading, to me, is all about pleasure all the way.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
iPad and laptop. I read more e-books thank the conventional types; maybe because the world is changing generally, or what do you think?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Can't say for now. My books were pirated in the past and I ran at a heavy loss. Manual sale of books may not be a good option because of the activities of pirates who reap where they don't sow.
Describe your desk
My desk is a device that is always pen-hungry.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I am both urban and rural. I had a blend of both worlds.
When did you first start writing?
Way back in the primary school in form of comprehension. Writing is just part of me, my talent.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Exposing the injustices of band of brutes who pose as leaders and wreak havoc on fellow humans. It was and I think it is still common in developing countries of the world, especially in Africa. We need a change. People are dying and suffocating from the misrule of these people. It is very very sad.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
To reach a wider audience and help shape ideas because ideas rule the world.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
For publishing my book, I am so proud of them.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is knowing that someone some where is reading me and peeping into my world which may shape his or her thought process for a better society.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are my greatest assets and encouragement.
What are you working on next?
A Novel Titled: The Vanishing Paradise - A Life of Two Faces
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The breathe of life, hoping that my today will be better than my yesterday.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Playing with my kids and spouse, or hanging out with favourite friends. I could also be reading sometimes.
What is your message to your fan?
To my fans, I say be resilient, resolute for what is right and take time to read good books. It helps.
