Interview with Michael Spencer

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Researching, learning and questioning everything. Other than that I work out in the sun on my organic fruit farm.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I can remember writing was at 7 years old. We were told to write a story about the angels coming down to to tell the shepherds about the coming of Jesus. I remember being reprimanded for writing that that one shepherd, on seeing the angels coming down. exclaimed " What the hell is that??"
How do you approach cover design?
I try to make it represent the point of the book. With the book, Managing Meniere's disease, I tried to have an image representing clarity and the feeling of waking up and seeing clearly for the first time. That is the feeling people have when recovering from Meniere's.

With the second book, I tried to make the cover represent of course, 'balance'.
Describe your desk
A complete mess! "You know what they say, messy, desk busy man." My desk is only tidy when I am not busy on a project, which is rare.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind The Need for Balance comes from the first book Managing Meniere's. I wanted to get as deep and detailed as I could into the obvious root causes behind not only Meniere's but many 'health' conditions and what to do about these causes.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The response, reactions and feedback from the books. When someone tells me they are now free of Meniere's and they have their life back, well that is something money can't buy.
What are you working on next?
Two books related to toxic overload and cancer.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Each day is a new day, a new opportunity and a new experience. After suffering for so long with Meniere's disease, where I would go to bed praying that I wouldn't wake up the next day to face another day of vertigo and all the other horrendous symptoms of Meniere's, waking up in recent years with a clear head and energy is a blessing I never take lightly.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The desire to help people.
What do you read for pleasure?
Historical books about real people, such as 'Wild Swans'
Published 2016-06-27.
