Interview with Michaela Auguste

What are you currently writing about now? Will readers know what happens to the ladies of Costes Catering?
I am currently writing the second installment of Hot and Tasty. In this installment, all of the original main characters will be in the book.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn a west indian community in New York City. New York City offers so many people with different backgrounds and cultures with interesting stories. It would be a shame if none of their situations didn't spark an idea for a story.
When did you first start writing?
I started as a young child. When I was in my bedroom alone, I would write stories. . If I started working again, I will make sure to write as often as possible. I could write all day but my body needs sleep to work and there are not enough hours in the day.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I didnt want to go through the endless notices of rejection from publishing companies. If I did obtain a contract, I didn't want to lose my voice to an editor. The publishing industry desperately needs to wake up and diversify. All races and cultures have fantastic writers with amazing stories dying to be read. I was 38 years old (at the time)and didn't want to have to wait years for to be published. I worked too long to help another company reach their goals. Now this is my opportunity to get the ball rolling now. I finally had time to do something I loved while my little munchkin drives me crazy.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I finally share my stories with people! (yay) Once I have a story idea I am passionate about, I write it down for a future book.
