Interview with Michelle F. Cline

Published 2014-06-04.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on a couple of projects. A lengthy novel. As well as a couple of short stories. I also plan on digging out my past works, polishing them up and re-editing them before publishing them.
Who are your favorite authors?
That's likely to e a looooonnnnggg answer. lol. Seriously though I do have a few absolute favorites. Two in particular whom I and their other fans will miss, Anne McCaffery and Robert Asprin. Creative, humorous, bold. They along with people like Piers Anthony, Terry Brooks, Alan Dean Foster, Julia Quinn, Amanda Quick, Julie Garwood...and all their pseudonyms, Feehan, Lindsay, Meyer, etc. etc. etc.
Why choose e-publishing?
I've been traditionally grounded in my expectations of my writing for my entire life. But after facing rejection after rejection from traditional publishing houses only to find out years later that my stories hadn't even been looked at...this left me with a deep sense of depression and loss. One that left me stagnating as a writer for years. It was only with the help of my sister's and the suggestion of Sherri's (the elder of the two) that I look into e-publishing, that I began to research this new to me medium to be published. I liked it. Submitting my work to the readers of the world to like or dislike as they choose. Not leaving it up to some overly critical editor who, more than likely, wouldn't even read an inquiry letter let alone the story...How great is this?
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. The first story I ever wrote completely was about a monster who wanted to be every one's friend. Nobody here liked him so he moved to the moon. Eventually he met some fantastic creatures there who didn't judge him based on his appearance and soon he had more friends than he'd ever dreamed. I think I even wrote a corny little song for the story. I was around 9 years old.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to be creative. Unfortunately I'm not very good at the stuff I enjoy the most. Sewing, painting, drawing. I'd love to be a great visual artist. Luckily for me writing enables me to describe a wonderful scene since I really, really can't paint it.
