Interview with Mike Rider

What is your writing process?
I write the story and create the artwork simultaneously. The writing inspires the art and the art inspires the writing. If the images aren't flowing, I write. If I feel a bit of writer's block, I draw.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The earliest story I remember is "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. It had a profound influence on me. it helped me to discover the power of imagination.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My I-Pad or Kindle.
What do you read for pleasure?
Thrillers, horror, comic books, children's books, non-fiction
Describe your desk
Really messy, but organized.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
The Bay Area and Southwest Pennsylvania. I think everything I have experienced influences my writing.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Creative freedom. Being your own boss.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When I finish a new book.
