I first wrote and published a book when I was about 8 years old for a school project. It won awards. After pursuing other artistic endeavors, it was years later where I decided to write creatively again.
Describe your desk
My desk is sleek and modern, but often too cluttered. I think I need a bigger one!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Long Island, New York. I think this effected my writing less than the support I had from my parents in encouraging me to read and write as a child. It was that support that enabled me to let my imagination soar.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The process involved in becoming a "traditionally" published author seemed daunting to me. But writing stories that I like and just putting them out there for myself to let the public decide if they liked it to seemed like a much more exciting initiative.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy in writing to me is when I start with an interesting concept and letting it unfold on it's own. When I hit a stumbling block as to how do I more the story forward and it just comes, that is very fun!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am usually hiking with my dog, spending time with my new husband or learning how to become a better cook in the kitchen.
What is your writing process?
My writing process changes. I often get a lightbulb type idea where I think, "that would make a good story" and then sit down and hammer out that thought. I inevitable hit blocks but if I keep at it, they work themselves out.
