Interview with Teresa Federici

What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on the third book in the Immortals and Magick Trilogy, and an untitled novel about two law enforcement officers from different departments who have to solve a murder-and fight their attraction for each other!
What is your writing process?
I'm afraid I am all over the board with writing. Some books have outlines, some don't. Others have copious notes and then others don't. I'm terribly disorganized, but I'm getting better!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I do! I was 14 and it was a story about me and my friends, grown up and fabulously rich. I think we owned an island and one of us was married to Jason Bateman.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Besides Solstice, I'm working on a new novel that revolves around two people with a history going back to high school. Now they are adults-she's a homicide detective and he's a captain with the National Forest Service-and they have to solve a murder. She wants nothing to do with him, since he broke her heart and he wants to start over again as adults.
Who are your favorite authors?
I adore Nora Roberts, Diana Gabaldon, Karen Marie Moning, and Stephen King.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Writing, my dogs, coffee, and the beautiful mountain scenery that greets me every day.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I read a lot, I hike, work in the garden...I read a lot.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I was 12, and my mother got me Stephen King's IT. I don't know why she got me that particular novel, maybe because it had just been released (showing my age!) or maybe because we loved watching horror movies, but I was hooked. My first romance novel was Julie Garwood's The Bride when I was 13. That's when I became hooked on romance novels.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Outlander-Diana Gabaldon: Rich in history, beautiful narrative, and it's in Scotland. Oh, and Jamie Fraser.
The Stand-Stephen King: The ultimate apocalypse novel.
The Bride-Julie Garwood: Humor, Highlanders, and wonderful writing.
The Duchess-Jude Deveraux: Trevelyn. One of the best male characters EVER
Darkfever-Karen Marie Moning: The first book I read of hers, and I love the world that she weaves.

Oh and literally ANYTHING from Nora Roberts. I can't choose just one.
What do you read for pleasure?
Basically the same things that I write. Romance, horror....but I do read non-fiction and biographies. And historical books.
What turns you on?
That spark that occurs between two people that creates instant heat.
