Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Queens, New York. I enjoyed writing since I could hold a pencil. Living in a busy city has inspired me to write about everything around me.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My daughter was the inspiration behind this story. One day she told me she didn't like what she saw in the mirror. This made me feel like I failed as a African-American mother.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My writing is transparent and I look forward to sharing more of my works.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to crochet, travel and spend quality time with my family.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I currently use a Kindle Fire.
