Interview with B. Phillips

What are you working on next?
I am doing some short stories, mainly set in pioneer days, people with Irish roots.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Janette Oak and Robyn Carr.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
A good cup of coffee.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, home making, quilting, things of that sort!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
They usually are suggested to me based on what I have previously been interested in.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was poetry. When I was in school I kept notebooks full of them!
What is your writing process?
Let's see, I outline my characters, the plot, their qualities, in a notebook. Then I just start typing on my laptop.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I do know that Gone With The Wind was the first book I ever fell in love with. It is still my favorite. Also books by Lurlene McDaniel, they actually made some of them into Lifetime movies.
How do you approach cover design?
I love nature, flowers, and beautiful young girls you can tell are on the precipice of something great.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Gone With The Wind
Don't Die My Love
When Calls The heart
Virgin River
When Comes The Spring Each one as a love story, with some sort of tragedy.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love Romance, westerns that aren't too cheesy. Stories about small towns. I'm very nostalgic also.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My wonderful husband finally got me a Kindle. But nothing replaces the feel of a book in your hand!
