Interview with Chris Stoffle

Published 2016-09-01.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Phoenix, AZ. I, like many people from the area, grew up wishing they were somewhere else. The summer heat isolated us to a degree. I spent my fair share of time playing video games and writing. I mostly read poetry because of the length. I grew up loving Greek Myths and that led me to The Iliad and Odyssey. The idea of a poem telling a story always stuck with me.
When did you first start writing?
When I was twelve. A teacher introduced me to Edgar Allen Poe, and I knew what I wanted to do with my life.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Doctor and the Red Sun Temple is but one out of four stories, they are fictional documents surrounding people residing in deserts. Every story I write, I try to write a diverse array of styles. A fully free verse poem.
Who are your favorite authors?
Robert Frost, CS Lewis, Ray Bradbury, Frank Herbert, Emily Dickinson, Walter Mosley and Michael Crichton
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Bodybuilding, MMA and Music. Swim lessons as a day job.
