Interview with Grace Essen

What do you read for pleasure?
I love to read motivational and inspirational books, I love biographies and autobiographies and of course, fictions too.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Being a mom of three I found that juggling work, home and every other aspect of my life was a struggle. At some point I had to put my career on hold to care for my family, but I found that was not exactly what I wanted after a while. I got talking to other moms, and I found there were many of us facing the same frustration, and then I thought there must be a better and easier way to get around juggling it all. After a few years of searching for workable tips and ideas, 'Successful Working Mom' was created.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love information. I love to read, and I love to share too. I want to share my experiences and that of others with people who might need them, that is my own little way to make this world a better place.
Being an indie author was the easiest way to achieve that, otherwise I guess I would still be looking around for publishing houses that would be kind enough to take a look to at my manuscript! :-)
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
With Smashwords I am able to reach more people who would find my book useful, as my book gets placed on other platforms; that saves me time and stress, so I can get on to the next project.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to pour it out just the way I feel it on the inside, knowing that I am totally FREE to express myself. That to me is amazing!
What do your fans mean to you?
Aw! They are the real reason I write. I always have my reader in mind when I write every word. It's such a pleasure to know someone will read, and hopefully learn something from my writings.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a Work book to go with 'Successful Working Mom'. I want to make available soonest a self-paced guide for moms to improve their performances at home and at work and reach their goals - personal and professional. And I am hoping that the Work book when finished will help them make honest assessment of where they are currently, where they want to be, what they need to get there, what possible obstacles they might encounter, and how best to tackle or eliminate them and achieve the success they desire.
Who are your favorite authors?
I like James Allen, Napoleon Hill, Norman Vincent Peale, George Clason, Rhonda Byrne, Sonya Hamlin, Maya Angelo, Robert Grene, Robert Schuller, Zik Ziglar, Jonh Maxwel, Brain Tracy and many others.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I see the dawn of a new day as another opportunity to leave a mark, another chance to put one foot in front of the other, and to give of whatever I have on the inside in which ever way I can.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I speak (I guess that pretty much goes hand in hand with writing), I read, I listen to music, but the greater part of my time is spent being mom! :-)
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I shop for books, also I have friends and family who read a lot too, so they tell me about a book they think I should check out, and I go for it.
