Interview with Natalie Lozano

What's the story behind your book?
I had been working on editing another manuscript. A fantasy fiction. I just couldn't seem to find how to add that magic it was missing. My grandma has always asked me when am I going to publish my poems? So I decided I could edit my existing poems and have my book out in no time. Boy, was I wrong. It took me a year to publish it.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy for me, is helping people with my writing. My poems are packed full of strong emotions. Each and every poem I have written has come from a feeling inside of me. These poems spill out of me. You know that moment when you have a passionate reaction to something? A lot of times I write amidst that feeling. As I write that anger or sadness leaves me. Friends and family who have read my poetry have said that it made them cry. Even though, they still liked it. A close second for me, would be that I get to write what I want. That makes me happy and proud because I have my own style.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have many favorite authors. Melanie Rawn, Nora Roberts, Laurell K Hamilton, MaryJanice Davidson, Jolie Pethtel, Rick Riordan. The list goes on and on. *smile*
What is your writing process?
My process varies. When I am currently working on a book I put on my favorite red vest. (It has huge front pockets) I get my writing tools ready. Paper and pen, computer or word processor. I throw on some music that suits the mood of the book. Then I get to work. Sometimes out of nowhere inspiration strikes and I have to get to paper fast to get my thoughts down before I lose them. I always free write my first draft edit later.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read Fantasy Fiction, Fiction, Chick Lit, Romance, Historical Romance, contemporary Romance, Paranormal, biography, Poetry. It depends on my mood.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I own a Nook color. I really enjoy reading books on it.
