Interview with Nicole Rickman

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I am inspired to get up and go everyday because of the blessings I receive from God. I know that no matter what life holds for me God is right with me. I see that promise every morning when I wake up and see the smile on my nine year old son. He is a true blessing from God. I was told I could never have a child then four months later after 5 years of trying I found out I was having my baby.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I think I am finding the greatest joy on how God uses me to spread his Word
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I feel I was actually called by God to write. I have been having some dizzy issues which has caused me to not be able to work as a nurse right now. God has been putting writing on my heart for sometime, When I discovered smashwords I knew God was leading me to wright.
What do you read for pleasure?
For pleasure I read a lot of Christian Fiction books. I love suspense an mystery books. I also love to read romance.
What genre are your books?
My books are Christian Fiction. I include KJV verses in by books to show where I get my thoughts from. I pray before I write and let God lead the way.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
If it was not for Smashwords I would never be living my dream of publishing my books and sharing what God gives me.
Are any experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Yes. I write a lot about alcohol abuse and helping your love ones through this disease. The reason I write and feel strongly about this issue is that my sister was killed in a car accident because her boyfriend was drunk,. Some day I hope to write a story about her life. I was only fourteen when this happened and it has a huge influence on who I am today.
Does you family influence your writing?
My family is a large influence on my writing. I was lucky to be raised in a small community close to much of my extended family. My mom had seven living brother and sisters. My dad had ten living brother and sisters. I was taught to love God, love my family and love my neighbor. I teach the same principals to my son.
Do you drink coffe or tea?
Both. I have to have a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. I love sitting on my front porch swing with an ice cold sweet tea and enjoy the sounds of nature.
