We are both very fond of the spy-fi and thriller genres and, being business consultants, we spend many hours travelling from one client to another. During these trips we began creating many characters and plots. Baibin was already a writer. She has published poetry and short stories and she has won some awards, too. So one day I challenged Baibin to start writing a spy thriller, and she accepted! The next day we were discussing the characters and the plot of the first novel. We have had many busy nights writing about Mark Savannah and his adventures.
What is your writing process?
During our business trips we have very detailed discussions about the plot and the characters. Only when we are both satisfied with the outcome do we start to write the story. We spend many, many hours gathering information because our stories are inspired by contemporary events. The revisions are a very important step in completing the work.
What are you working on next?
We are working on finishing the trilogy. We have already finished the second novel and are working on its revision. The second novel is also a contemporary spy-fi with thriller elements. Its present-day themes, high tech environment, background issues and the setting of the story will appeal to spy and thriller readers.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
We split our time between working as business consultants and flying whenever possible. Baibin is also a painter and a member of the Art of Ink in America Society.
What's your favorite aircraft?
The Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing - definitely!
