Interview with Nikki O'Knack
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My automatic coffee maker begins to brew and the heavenly scent reaches me. Seriously, I have a life - husband I love, children I love and a job I love...
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Thinking about life without gravity. Seriously, I scramble to put a healthy breakfast out for my guys, take everyone where they need to go.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
That's funny. Years ago I wrote a story to help me get a scholarship to a prestigious university. They liked the story but I still didn't qualify. Apparently there was something wrong with me.
What is your writing process?
Dream, jot, arrange, dream some more, jot some more, arrange some more.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, it was, 'A Woman of Substance.' I cried. Afterwards, I wanted to have my own business in the worst way.
How do you approach cover design?
I imagine my main character and his/her personality.
Describe your desk
I have three...and I can barely see them.
When did you first start writing?
I was nineteen.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. They rock.
