Interview with Desi B. Moon

Who are your favorite authors?
Christopher Moore, he makes me laugh!
Jasper Fforde, I am in awe of his imagination
George RR Martin, his bold writing gives me something to aspire to
Khalad Hoessini, his stories speak volumes
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I sit and write at least six hours a day, that's an awful lot of sitting, hunched over a keyboard. I spend at least two hours at the gym shaking it out with Zumba, running on the eliptical and lifting weights.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I was five or six maybe... it was about Kermit the frog, I think he was murdered but can't be sure. The only thing I remember distinctly is using a green crayon to write the story. I was adamant about using the green crayon.
What is your writing process?
Before bed, I write out five scenes that need to be crafted the next day. It germinates overnight. The next morning, after drinking copious amounts of coffee, I sit down to type it out.
Describe your desk
Messy! It is large with several nooks that holds scraps of paper. There are three shelves crammed with reference books, and books are stacked across the top. Hand drawn family pictures from my youngest are precariously taped all around it.
What do your fans mean to you?
EVERYTHING! I love chatting with them about my books and what other things they like to read. Without them I couldn't do what I do.
What are you working on next?
I'm completely rewriting a book which was originally published in 2012. The book was lacking something, took me eighteen months to figure out what is was and how to fix it. All of a sudden all these back stories began to emerge. I may be able to stretch all the ideas into three separate books. The first one should be ready for release in December. The title isn't changing, though. I really like the title.
