Interview with Anthony D. Thompson

Why did you write this book?
To use a novel to highlight certain characteristics of the human race and the resulting unavoidable nemesis.
Could you explain the message of your book in one sentence?
Yes. We, the members of the human species, need to change what we are and consider more closely the disgusting, brutal and stupid things we are doing to ourselves and to our planet, before it is too late - unless, of course, it is already too late.
Why is the book written in the first person?
Because the main protagonist is a cynic with views on just about everything, and the first person made it easier - in my view - to fit in certain of his unconventional thoughts and remarks!
Did you enjoy the process of writing the book?
Yes, tremendously. I think that is the case with most authors,.
What did you do when you didn't know how to continue?
I stared at the screen for as long as necessary. Occasionally for hours or even a day or two!
Do you think this book will be enjoyed by a specific reader group?
Yes: namely, those who do not belong to the majority (which thinks the planet is lucky to have us as its dominant animal).
Will you write more novels?
Yes. But not so heavily philosophical as this one!

What would you do if you met a businessman in a London coffee shop who made you a ridiculous offer of €500,000...merely for you to participate in a series of interviews? Would you assume the offer to be that of a deranged person, a fraudster or a joker? And irrespective of that, for €100,000 in advance and non-returnable, would you attend an initial meeting? Well.....would you?
