Interview with Odayne Marshall

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I don't actually. It must have been so long ago. I've been writing for as long as I can remember, since I was a little boy.
What is your writing process?
I've only just completed the highly anticipated novel 'An Eternal Love' and 'The Artist Within' so now I'm looking forward to work on a screenplay for 'An Eternal Love' there will be a movie coming soon.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Again not in particular but it was at a tender age and quite the eye opener for me. I was awakened. Immediately I thought to myself, if this author can do it then so can I.
How do you approach cover design?
Usually I just save that part for last. It is said that a picture can tell a thousand words so when my potential audience look at the cover design of my books they can tell what it's about. So I create the design based on the content or theme of the story. I never create a cover design and limit myself to it in writing. The sky is the limit so I always write first.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I've read so many great books. Great reads as I would call it from exceptional authors but there's something about George R.R. Martin's 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' book series that I've gravitated to the most. I guess it's his use of language and ability to make the characters come alive realistically in personality. I never feel like I'm reading a book when reading these books. I feel like I've been transported into another world.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read the Holy Bible. It's a great book that's filled with lots of reasons to be optimistic.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other. Both Apple and Android work well for me.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Socializing. Once I get out there and I start meeting new people, getting the word out, it's just the most important aspect of marketing. Creating awareness and making friends.
Describe your desk
My desk is filled with several books by Ellen G White and my favourite pen.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born and bread in the lush green island called Jamaica. It's very relaxing, calm, quite, collective and the people here is very friendly. My writings are a reflection of my surroundings.
What's the story behind your latest book?
People meet all the time. It happens in the strangest of ways. At best it could be just at a glance. For Tracey, she became fond of Nardo for his charming and most cultivating abilities. She falls in love with his mind, his line of thinking and perspective. As Nardo journey with her down the path of an unbelievable world, he never fails to be optimistic when things begin to go south for them both.
