Interview with PS Burch

Published 2014-09-22.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Historically word of mouth. If you want to sell a book you have got to sell it to the first person that reads it and if it is good it will sell itself. The marketing comes from praying a lot while writing and praying even harder while I am rewriting.
Describe your desk
Some days it looks like a dinner table, other days it looks like the inside of my car and still on others it looks like the counter at the food court while I am waiting for my food order. Thankfully it is clean and most days dust free even if it is the one in my office.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Proudly I grew up in Texas. Houston to be more specific. Having done so has influenced ever detail surrounding both my life and my writing. Texans are proud and hard working folks who value God and Family and our Great Country.
When did you first start writing?
Around age twelve. My diary and no it will not be published here. Least not so you will actually know that it is me.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Millie Crane has been involved in a car accident and is heading to Heaven for her judgment day. Knowing she will miss her family and her Texas puts her in a bit of a tail spin but she quickly decides that Heaven is going to be an ok place to be. Ok that is until events unfold in Heaven that force her to make a decision on whether she will be staying or not. Heaven is after all about freewill.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My love of writing and having a forum where my stories and books can be shared. There is always a lot that can be shared in and between the lines and I wanted an audience to share it all with.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has provided me a platform to share with my Readers the tales I am desiring to tell. That spells success to me so this is what I am happy to go with for now.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing and of living life in fact to me is the sharing. Giving Readers all that is in my heart to give.
What do your fans mean to you?
A fan is a Reader. As a writer you cannot get a better gift than having a Reader.
What are you working on next?
A Babe Mystery Jesus Bisquit. I hope to publish it by the end of 2014 or early 2015. It is written and is with my editor. Often times when I think a book is done it goes south on me as it under goes the edit process. I pray he will be kind.
